A notorious bandit kingpin called ‘Dangote’ has been killed in a gun battle with a rival gang of Kachalla Dankarami along the Dumbunrun Forest between the Batsari and Jibia local government areas of Katsina State.

Dangote was killed alongside his two siblings, namely Lama Na Balewa and Usman Yellow, during the fight that reportedly broke out between the two camps.

A credible source, who confirmed the incident, explained that some foot soldiers belonging to the camp of Kachalla Dankarami rustled cattle belonging to Dangote’s relations last weekend, and the development didn’t go down well with Dangote. When one of his brothers alongside 10 others advanced to recover the cattle, they were killed while others escaped with gun wounds.

Receiving the information about his brother’s death, Dangote became furious and angrily mobilised his foot soldiers that went after Dankarami and his boys, but he, unfortunately, suffered a great loss which eventually claimed his life, when he and his gang members were ambushed again by the Dankarami boys with sophisticated weapons.

“While Dangote and his boys were advancing, Dankarami’s camp ambushed them with heavy firearms, and within a short period, they overran Dangote and his boys.

“Dangote attempted to escape since he can’t be harmed with firearms, but Dankarami noticed his moves and quickly seized him and slaughtered him,” the source said.

He added that the fight continued throughout the night, but the airstrike by the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) brought to an end the bloody conflict between the two camps, as scores of bandits were feared dead and many others injured in the encounter.

As at the time of this report, the Katsina State Police Command was yet to comment on the incident.
