The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate during the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has dismissed the threat to him by the governor of Edo state, Monday Okpebholo, insisting that he will always go to Edo state whenever he wants.
Obi, who reacted in an interview with newsmen at Christ The King College (CKC), Onitsha, Anambra state, on Thursday, advised Governor Okpebholo to complement his efforts in supporting public institutions instead of threatening him.
Obi was at CKC, where he donated 50 Million to the college’s management on behalf of the old boys to support the management in their “good works.”
Responding to newsmen concerning the recent threat by the Edo state governor that he should not enter the state again without obtaining permission from him (the Governor), otherwise his safety would not be guaranteed, Obi dismissed the warning, saying that he is used to receiving threats.
“I’m used to receiving threats. I will go to Edo any time I want,” Obi insisted.
He was received at CKC by the Archbishop of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, other college management staff, students led by the senior prefect, Ejike Ekene, and some other students.
Obi commended the management of his Alma mater for what he described as “Phenomenal work” they are doing in the college.
He said he said a few of his colleagues decided to donate some money to support the college management. In their respective speeches, the Bishop and the college senior prefect eulogised the former Anambra state governor for his efforts toward building a new Nigeria.
