The area controller for Ogun Area II Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Bisi Alade, yesterday disclosed that the command generated over N15 billion as revenue due on exercise duties between January and April this year.

This is just as Alade also revealed that the command uncovered a manufacturing factory that has been operating illegally within the command’s catchment area in the period under review.

The Controller disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the command’s office in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital about activities of his command within the period under review.

Giving the breakdown of the revenue put at N15.19 billion which he said indicated a progressive increase, Alade said over N8.3 billion was released from the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), while the sum of N7.16 billion accrued to the Federal Government’s cover from the Bonded Terminal (Import).

He explained that the revenue generated represented a 40 percent increase when compared with the N9.17 billion generated in 2024.

Alade attributed the achievement to the “diligence, commitment and professionalism” of the officers and men of the command, who have always worked tirelessly to ensure that the command exceeded its revenue targets.

He maintained that the leap in revenue generation is also indicative of the command’s unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of the nation.

Speaking on the recent discovery of a manufacturing company that was operating illegally, Alade disclosed that the said company has since been brought under excise duty control as part of the strategy to further boost revenue generation for the nation.

The controller, however, reaffirmed the command’s determination to surpass this revenue generation performance in the coming months, emphasising that he would continue to dialogue with the stakeholders and the local business community, in addition to partnering with relevant stakeholders towards discharging the statutory responsibilities of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policies.

He reiterated that his leadership at the command would always uphold the core mandate of the Customs Service in line with the policy thrust of Comptroller General Bashir Adeniyi’s principles of consolidation, collaboration and innovation.

Alade applauded all the officers and men of Ogun II Area Command for their diligence, dedication, and professionalism urging them to remain committed to pursuing excellence at their various duty posts.
