The Chairman of the Seaport Terminal Operators of Nigeria (STOAN) and Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of ENL Consortium Limited, Olori Vicky Haastrup, has been recognised for her pivotal role in driving port efficiency and advancing gender inclusion within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

She received the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 14th Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards held in Lagos on Friday, an honour that underscores her contributions to business growth, trade facilitation, and advocacy for women in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

The award was presented by former Ogun State governor, Chief Segun Osoba, on behalf of Vanguard Media Limited, organisers of the annual event which celebrates individuals whose achievements continue to shape industries and contribute to national development.

As head of ENL Consortium, operators of Terminals C and D at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, Haastrup has overseen operational improvements that have enhanced cargo handling efficiency and strengthened port operations. Her leadership has been credited with supporting smoother trade processes and contributing to the overall development of Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure.

Beyond her corporate accomplishments, Haastrup has remained a strong advocate for gender inclusion, consistently promoting opportunities for women and mentoring young professionals through various women-focused organisations. Her efforts have positioned her as a leading voice for diversity and empowerment in the maritime industry.

Speaking after receiving the award, Haastrup expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that it reflects the importance of resilience, vision, and integrity in leadership.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. It is both humbling and inspiring. It reinforces the need to remain committed to excellence and to continue breaking barriers. I encourage women to believe in their abilities and remain steadfast in pursuing their goals. Success is driven by courage, resilience, and determination,” she said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Eze Anaba, said the awards celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional vision and resilience in building enterprises and contributing to economic growth despite prevailing challenges.

According to him, the awardees represent the enduring spirit of enterprise and serve as an inspiration that dedication, discipline, and commitment can lead to remarkable achievements.
