Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has told the immediate past commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo, that he lacks the credibility to criticise his administration.
The governor said he would neither succumb to his blackmail nor offer Chikamnayo any appointment.
Otti stated this during his monthly media interaction with the theme, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks To Abians” for August 2025 in Umuahia, the state capital..
He reacted to an allegation that the All Progressives Congress member made against him last week in Abuja of misappropriating N14.43 billion for the renovation of 61 primary schools.
He carpeted Chikamnayo, who had served in the three previous administrations in the same capacity, “for not understanding numbers and how they work in accounting”.
Otti said, “If you want to take on this administration, it should not come from numbers, particularly for a man who doesn’t understand numbers.”
He recalled how the former spokesperson of the immediate past administration sent an emissary to him informing him that he wanted to be part of his administration, but he refused.
”I have a message for him. This is a different administration. And my response to his request that came at the beginning of this administration remains the same.
”We have followed him. He has been part of every government since 1999. In 2007, he started blackmailing the governor at that time, and they called him and gave him jobs.”
He added, “If Chikamnayo likes, let him hang on a transformer, I will not call him” and urged him to visit his Umunneochi local government area to see the ongoing transformations.
He said if he comes, he should be advised to visit the university, “where he claimed he read law. I am also working there. And to those who sent him, first of all, they sent the wrong person”.
Explaining that he knows the person sponsoring the allegation, he observed that “it is unfortunate that the sponsor hired a man without credibility to carry out the hatchet man’s job”.
”A man without credibility. You don’t need to send him to go and talk about it. And in any case, they may not have found a man with credibility to come and talk rubbish,” he noted.
