Wife of Abia State governor, Mrs Precillia Otti, has announced that her office will launch a stateside free medical outreach and treatment in the state next year.
Mrs Otti said this yesterday after she was decorated as the matron of the state chapter of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria in Umuahia the state capital.
“This is a shared vision that resonates deeply with the administration of Dr. Alex Otti and the ethos of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria,” she noted.
The state First Lady, who added that she looked forward to collaborating with the chapter to accomplish the objective, appreciated the members “for the singular honour”.
Reacting to the investiture of Dr. Chizoba Achor as the 8th president and inauguration of the chapter, she maintained that the occasion marked a positive point in the life of the chapter.
“As we witness the investiture of the 8th president and inauguration of the executive committee, let us focus on the crucial aspect that define your noble profession and adherence to the code of conduct,” she said.
In her remarks, Achor said her vision for the chapter includes campaign against obnoxious widowhood practices, creating awareness and promotion of health programmes, and mentoring of medical students and young doctors.
While decorating Mrs Otti earlier, the international president of the association, Dr. Eleanor Nwadinobi said the First Lady deserved the honour considering her support and partnership with the association.
