A leading member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State and member of the Governing Council, Federal College of Education, (Technical) Potiskum, Nasiru Bala Ja’oji, has reminded Nigerians that instances of hardship faced by Nigerians did not begin with the current regime led by President Bola Tinubu.

Ja’oji stated this at a special gathering in Kano on Wednesday to mobilise the public against participating in the 1st August, 2024, #EndBadGovernance protest.

The party chieftain further explained that president Tinubu has a listening ears, and has been meeting with stakeholders, and is charting a new course for an all-inclusive national development.

Ja’oji reiterated that Nigerians should desist from breeding crises to avoid situations where hoodlums and unpatriotic elements will hijack the protests and replicate the Libya, Somalia, Congo (DRC), Sudan, Burkina Faso and Mali experience.

“I am pleased to address you today over the planned nationwide protest, which is a few hours from now. While registering worries about particular policies of any government is democratic, but planning to cause crisis of any nature under whatever name is condemned by right-thinking citizens.

“Our many hardships did not start with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. While acknowledging the hardship being faced by Nigerians, President Tinubu assured that adjustment being made in some of his administration’s policies. As a listening leader, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that things will change for better.

“On behalf of all the people who gathered here, particularly our mothers, sisters and women, we are not supporting any protest at this critical period of national development and cohesion. With no clear cut organisers, it simply means there is hidden agenda. Which we totally reject.

“I met and discussed with many women groups on this planned protest. Their message is very clear, that, they are not part of it, they don’t support it and they warned their children not to support it. They need peaceful Nigeria at any cost.

Ja’oji added that some African countries were still in crisis because of similar protests that were hijacked by hoodlums and unpatriotic elements.
