A philanthropist in Sokoto state, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan Iya, has donated food items worth N10m to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state.
The relief materials received by Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM), are to be distributed to IDPs across the five local government areas worst hit by banditry in the eastern part of the state.
The local government areas are Isah, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Rabah, and Wurno local government areas all in the eastern part of the state.
The grains consist of 100 bags of 50kg rice, 50 bags of corn, 50 bags of maize and 50 bags of millet worth N10m.
Speaking after receiving the gesture, Executive Chairman, SOZECOM, Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, prayed to Almighty Allah to reward the donor and all that helped therein with Janbatul Firdaus.
He expressed hope that the humanitarian intervention assistance would go along in alleviating the sufferings of the benefitting IDPs in the affected areas.
He vowed to deliver the consignment as directed by the Philanthropist in the most effective way.
Earlier the representatives of Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir, Alhaji Isah Garba Nakasa, and Alhaji Musa Sharu, reiterated the donor’s willingness to aid the IDPs and other vulnerable in the state at all times.
Special prayers were also offered for Allah to protect and bless Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir and his family.
