The teenagers were both students at Bakari-Dukku Comprehensive Secondary School, Bauchi.

Prior to their arrest, a shop owner from Wunti Market had filed a complaint with the police over the disappearance of about 100 mobile phones, 75 MP4 players, 30 cell phone batteries, 50 external memory cards and a Bluetooth headset.

Confirming the arrest to reporters in Bauchi on Friday, Spokesperson of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil said the suspects were linked to a major robber.

Wakil said about 21 mobile phones, 5 MP4 players, a mobile phone charger, and a metal key used in the crime were recovered from the suspected minors.

He explained that the suspects secured the key to the shop and carefully timing their moves, the suspects repeatedly looted the shop while the owner was away.

Wakil said the suspects confessed to the crime, adding that they sell the stolen phones at reduced prices while using the proceeds to buy clothes, food, and a smartphone.

The police image maker said the suspects would be taken to a remand home for rehabilitation after further investigation and recovery of the remaining stolen goods.
