The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the death of a 24-year-old woman, Fatima Salihu Mohammed, whose decomposing body was discovered in a maize farm located within the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi staff quarters.

The case was first reported on September 25, 2025, when Fatima’s father, 62-year-old Salihu Mohammed Chimo, lodged a complaint at the ‘E’ Division Police Headquarters that his daughter had left home on September 24 to buy groceries at Birshin Fulani but never returned.

A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, on Tuesday, explained that detectives with surveillance expertise and technological tools were immediately deployed to trace the deceased’s whereabouts.
