The Kano State Police Command has announced a series of activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with residents and improve public trust.

The state commissioner of police, Ibrahim Bakori, made this known on Friday during a press briefing in Kano.

He said the activities, themed: “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” would commence on March 30 in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Bakori explained that the programme would begin with a sanitation exercise in Fagge Local Government Area, alongside community engagement and a medical outreach at Dakata.

He added that other activities lined up include a walkathon across major roads in Kano metropolis, a live radio programme, and visits to key institutions, including the Federal High Court.

According to him, the command will also hold an interactive session with students and staff of North-West University, organise a novelty football match at the Sani Abacha Stadium, and host a roundtable with civil society organisations and community leaders.

The police commissioner noted that the command would further engage traders and commuters through visits to markets and motor parks across the state, adding that similar programmes would be held at divisional and area command levels.

He said the grand finale of the celebration would take place on April 7 at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Bakori urged residents to participate in the activities, stressing that effective policing requires cooperation between the police and the public.

“The police and the community must work together to ensure a safer society,” he said.
