The University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State has announced it will confer an honourary Doctor of Science in Public Administration on the governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The recognition, according to the university, celebrates Governor Fintiri’s exceptional contributions to leadership and public service in Nigeria.
In a formal communication conveying the Senate’s decision, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Gloria Chindah, confirmed that the honorary degree will be officially awarded during the institution’s 35th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for July 26th, 2025.
Reacting to the development, Governor Fintiri expressed deep appreciation for the honour.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to accept the honorary Doctor of Science in Public Administration award from the University of Port Harcourt.
This recognition is a testament to my commitment to public service and leadership,” he said.
He further thanked the Senate and Governing Council of the University, stating that the award will spur him to continue promoting growth and development in Adamawa State and across the nation.
“I promise to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, and dedication that this award represents. I look forward to the formal conferment ceremony and appreciate the University’s recognition of my efforts,” he added.
