Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on the National Assembly, especially the House Committee on Police Affairs, to prioritise Police welfare and ensure the judicious utilisation of resources allocated to the force to enhance national security.
The governor called through his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, during the committee’s courtesy visit to the Kano State Government House.
In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Governor Yusuf she expressed concern over the dire security situation in the country, particularly in the northwest zone, where five out of seven states are grappling with widespread violence, including kidnappings and banditry.

He acknowledged the significant police investments in Kano State, highlighting institutions such as the Police Academy in Wudil, the Police Secondary School in Shanono, and a newly established school in the Kabo local government area.
The governor commended the police for their role in maintaining peace and security. He noted that the Kano State Government recently donated over 70 vehicles to the State Police Command to enhance operational efficiency.
