The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TMDK Group of Companies, Amadu Sule, has donated 17,000 bags of food items to his immediate community in Zamfara State as part of his Ramadan welfare package.
The items include 7,000 bags of rice (50kg and 25kg) and 10,000 bags of Samovita, to be distributed to 15,000 beneficiaries in Talata and 2,000 beneficiaries in Kaura Namoda.
Speaking at the flag-off of the distribution in Talata Mafara on Sunday, Sule said the gesture was part of his commitment to give back to his people and support the less privileged, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Represented by the General Manager of TMDK Terminal, Alhaji Sa’adu Aliyu Modaci, the TMDK boss recalled that the welfare initiative started in 2006 with just 100 bags of food items but has now grown to 17,000 bags.
“Ramadan is a blessed month, a month of mercy, sacrifice, patience and compassion. It reminds us that whatever Allah has given us is a trust, and part of that trust is to care for one another,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to pray for the donor and the company, stressing that nothing was expected in return other than their prayers.
Also speaking, the Marafan Mafara, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Marafa, and the Galadiman Mafara, Alhaji Malami Abubakar Sibo, commended Sule for the gesture and prayed that Allah rewards him abundantly.
Beneficiaries of the programme, mainly household heads, widows, orphans, low-income families, unemployed youths and other vulnerable individuals, expressed joy as they received the food items.
