Cristiano Ronaldo has asserted that the Saudi Pro League is already one of the top five leagues in the world, following the Portuguese international’s renewal of his contract with Al Nassr.
The Saudi Pro League club announced last Thursday that Ronaldo had signed a two-year contract, ensuring his presence at the club beyond his 42nd birthday.
“Of course, we [the Saudi Pro League] are still improving, but I believe that at this moment we are already in the top five [leagues in the world]. I am confident that we will continue to progress; we have the time, and we have demonstrated over the past two years that the league is consistently on the rise,” Ronaldo stated in a video posted by Al Nassr on X.
“I am happy because I know that the league is very competitive. Only those who have never played in Saudi Arabia and do not understand football make claims that this league is not among the top five [in the world].
“I believe 100% in my words, and those who play in this league know exactly what I mean.”
Ronaldo also welcomed Saudi Arabia’s role as the host for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
“This is why I want to stay, because I believe in the project—not just for the next two years, but until 2034, when the World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia.
I truly believe it will be the most beautiful [World Cup] ever.”
