Rotary Abuja CBD Club To Donate Classrooms In Nasarawa Community

In its efforts of making positive impacts in local communities, the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD (Central Business District), is embarking on a number of projects at its adopted community in Gidan Gimba village of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

One of the Star projects to be completed in the new Rotary year which begins on the first of July will be the completion of the construction of two blocks of classrooms, furniture and Head Teacher’s office estimated to cost 25 million naira.

In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Incoming President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD, Hajiya Lauratu Samaila Yenwan said the completion of the School project is to provide a conducive learning environment for the pupils in line with one of Rotary’s area of focus which is basic education and Literacy.

Other areas of intervention according to the statement will be the distribution of sanitary pads to girls , refurbishment of the borehole hitherto provided by the Club to the community , tree planting campaigns as well as maternal and child health outreaches, economic empowerment of IDPs among others.

The incoming Club President pointed out that about 35 million naira is needed to execute the laudable projects proposed by the Club as from the first of July 2025 and appealed to kind spirited individuals to support and partner with the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD to realise the objectives. To this end a Fund Raising event has been slated for Friday the 4th of July 2025 at the Shoprite Novare Central Office Park, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja at 4pm.

Rotarian Lauratu Yenwan an accomplished business woman, who is coming in as the 9th President of the Rotary Club of Abuja CBD, 2025-2026 Rotary Year, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the Centre for Distance Learning of the University of Abuja.She takes over from Rotarian Katherine Adamu, MFR. The Rotary Club of Abuja CBD was Chartered by Rotary International on 25th November 2016.
