The South African Football Association (SAFA), in partnership with Adidas, has unveiled the new home jersey for the 2026/2027 season, designed for both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana. The release, which took place on Tuesday, marks a bold evolution of an iconic design that resonates with the spirit of South African football.
Drawing inspiration from the memorable 2010 World Cup jersey, the new kit pays homage to a pivotal moment in the nation’s football history while confidently stepping into a new era. The jersey features the traditional yellow base complemented by green trim, a colour scheme synonymous with national pride.
Significantly, the updated design reflects South Africa’s twelve official languages, encapsulating the nation’s diversity and unity. Subtle graphic elements woven into the fabric symbolise the collective voices of football fans across the country.
Tom Brown, Senior Marketing Director for Adidas South Africa, remarked, “This new design proudly represents the twelve national languages, evolving from the iconic reference made in the 2010 jersey. It serves as a unifying symbol for players and fans alike.”
The jersey is tailored with bespoke fit considerations for both men’s and women’s teams, underscoring the commitment to elevate the profile of both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana on the global stage.
Excitement builds as Banyana Banyana prepare to debut the kit at the WAFCON 2026 tournament in Morocco, while Bafana Bafana will wear it in their opening match of the FIFA 2026 World Cup against Mexico.
Designed with Adidas’ latest CLIMACOOL+ technology, the jersey promises enhanced ventilation and comfort, utilising engineered stretch fabrics and strategically placed mesh zones to keep players dry during intense conditions.
The away jersey will be revealed on March 19, 2026, alongside other global Adidas federations, with the home jersey available for purchase from March 20.
