Glo Mobile and Samsung Electronics have unveiled the Galaxy S26 series in Nigeria, positioning the smartphone as a bold leap in artificial intelligence, camera engineering, privacy and ecosystem connectivity.
Speaking at the launch in Lagos, Samsung Nigeria’s Product manager, Solomon Osibeluwo, described the unveiling as a milestone in the brand’s long-standing collaboration with the telecom giant.
According to Osibeluwo, the partnership was built on a foundation built over many years.
“Anytime we have an opportunity to talk about a new product, it’s always exciting. With the release of the Galaxy S26 series. Glo is the first to have this type of session. It’s built on the foundation of a good partnership that we’ve had over many years,” he said.
Osibeluwo stressed that the S26 series is not just a regular phone, but a device built around Galaxy AI, which powers its advanced editing and contextual features.
While demonstrating how a user could instantly change the colour of an object in a photo by typing a simple prompt with the feature leveraging internet connectivity but does not depend on it for basic image capture.
He said, “Galaxy AI is the brainwork of everything we’re talking about, as it applies to AI editing”
“When you select the Galaxy AI editing option, it gives you different possibilities in this case, what we want to do is to change the colour of the shoe in real time”
The S26 series introduces a built-in horizontal gimbal standard that stabilises the video without external equipment. After deliberately shaking the phone during recording, thereby replaying the footage to show smooth output.
He noted that the stabilisation technology also supports Samsung’s nitrography mode for bright, sharp low-light photography at night.
The product manager unveiled what he described as a world-first privacy display integrated directly into the screen.
“What the privacy display does is it allows you to actually handle the shoulder surfers,” he said.
The S26 series users can restrict screen visibility from side angles and even apply the feature to specific apps such as messaging or banking platforms.
Similarly, he introduced the “me-centric AI experience” powered by a context-aware engine known as NowNudge.
According to him, the system detects key details in conversations and automatically suggests calendar entries or navigation routes as it ais AI-tailoredto individual lifestyles.
“The moment you go into the calendar, it automatically picks all that information and just asks you to save it.” He continued, “NOX platform is a defence-grade military security system. It is built on an even hardware level,” he stated.
He added that the S26 series is also IP68 water and dust resistant and built with durable materials for long-term use.
