One of the Kano kingmakers who is currently challenging the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, Aminu Babba, says he is satisfied with the latest ruling on the emirate tussle by the Appeal Court in Abuja.

Babba stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen on the ruling.

He said, “We went to the Court of Appeal for stay of execution of its judgment. For me, I was not satisfied with the initial judgment, that was why I sought appeal at the Supreme Court. As you know, the law allows me to ask for stay of execution or prayer restraining those challenging the executing of the action which we did.

“I have heard so many interpretations on the judgment, especially the version of the state government. But as far as we are concerned, the ruling is here.

“Some people are saying the Court of Appeal cannot sit on its judgment. If Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi continues to parade himself as emir that will be contempt of court. We must respect the rule of law in this country. I will take him to court and challenge him for that.

“I challenge any other lawyer to challenge my position because the rule of law must be followed. We would serve all those concerned. I will advise the governor to ensure that the ruling is obeyed.

“It is the responsibility of security agencies to ensure peace and that is why I’m urging the heads of police and DSS to ensure that the order is followed. We don’t want to go to the streets. Don’t instigate people to create crisis because we want peace in Kano,” he stated.
