Joint security forces repelled an attack by Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a police outpost in Jakana, Kaga local government area of Borno State at the weekend.
Reports obtained in the Lake Chad region from sources said the attack began at about 2:30 am on Saturday when the terrorists mounted their machine guns and began shooting at the police.
The sources said the police responded, resulting in a heavy gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes.
Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade fighting patrol were dispatched to the scene and assisted the police, forcing the terrorists to flee.
The troops chased them towards their withdrawal route and recovered bullet proof vest and two magazines.
