Shekina British International School, Ihiagwa, Owerri West local government area of Imo State, has revealed that the school ranks among Nigeria’s leading academic institutions, boasting top-tier results, world-class facilities, and globally competitive programmes.

This is even as the institution called on the Imo State government to repair the dilapidated Nekede–Ihiagwa Road, the school’s main access route.

The school’s principal, Christian Modebe, made this known while addressing newsmen in Owerri.
He emphasised that the school has been rated among the best in the country.

The principal attributed this feat to a robust curriculum to ensure students excel in local and international examinations, including WAEC, NECO, and TOEFL.

He said, “Our curriculum is a blend of the Nigerian and British systems, tailored to produce academic excellence.”

“We don’t just prepare students for exams; we equip them with the skills to compete anywhere in the world.”

He says the school’s international exchange programmes have opened doors for students to study in Ivy League and other prestigious institutions abroad.

“Our students are doing well both locally and internationally. We have a lovely environment, smart boards, modern sporting facilities, and a conducive atmosphere for learning”.

Highlighting the school’s sports achievements, Modebe announced that by next year, some students would attend training camps at West Ham Football Club in England and elite football academies in Spain.

“Those who choose to play football can pursue it professionally, while others can focus on entrepreneurship, programming, catering, fashion, music, martial arts, and more under our School of Entrepreneurship”.

He disclosed that Shekina students have also shone in the National Mathematics Competition and other academic contests, while acquiring industrial certifications from tech giants such as Google and Cisco.
“Our graduates can work in any part of the world,” he highlighted.

The principal urged parents to enrol their children at the institution, promising a perfect balance of character and learning backed by the best curricular and extracurricular activities.

Established in 2018, Modebe said the School has recorded consistently outstanding results in WAEC, with minimal resits and zero tolerance for examination malpractice.

According to him, the school maintains a CCTV-monitored environment to ensure discipline and integrity in academic conduct.

Modebe also praised the school’s world-class sports coaches, noting that its basketball team recently won the Milo Basketball Championship. At the same time, several students scored above 350 in the UTME for three consecutive years, the highest in Imo State.

“Our vision is to raise globally relevant leaders through academic rigour, skill acquisition, and moral excellence.

“We want our students to not only pass exams but to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best across the globe.”
