A certified counsellor and trauma-informed care specialist, Dr Adeline Shuri, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the Anti-Doping Bill into law.

She said the landmark legislative feat marks a significant step towards promoting clean sports in Nigeria, adding that it will bring numerous benefits, including the promotion of fair play, the protection of athletes’ health, the prevention of the use of harmful doping substances, and the enhancement of Nigeria’s reputation on the global stage.

According to Shuri, the Anti-Doping law demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to clean sports, thereby boosting its international standing, encouraging youth participation, promoting clean sporting practices, and inspiring young athletes to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

“As a SportsMind expert, I firmly believe that Nigeria’s sports sector has made significant progress in championing clean sports, thanks to the President’s efforts. My expertise in General Psychiatric Management (GPM) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) from Harvard Medical School, Texas, USA, underscores my dedication to providing exceptional care and support to athletes,” Shuri stated.

The co-founder of sportfanzone.org also mentioned that the initiatives of SportsMind will now take a new direction for the benefit of the sports industry in Nigeria and across Africa. While praising the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their commendable work, Adeline Shuri expressed that stakeholders will now utilise the services of Everight Laboratory’s state-of-the-art facilities to provide remarkable support for athletes. This partnership will propel Nigeria to the forefront of clean sports in Africa.
