In his reaction to the incident, Soludo condemned the attack and assured that the perpetrators would not only be fished out and made to face the full weight of the law, the incident he added would mark the end of criminality in the state.

Soludo’s press secretary, Mr Christian Aburime who said that his boss had already condoled Senator Ubah and commissioner of police in the state, CP Echeng Echeng over those they lost in the attack, and, the injured, quoted him to have assured “this is the last ditched-effort of a sinking boat by these criminal elements.”

“All security agencies are now on full alert to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous attack, who will be made to face the full wrath of the law”, Soludo assured.

Also, Azubuogu condemned the attack on Ubah and expressed confidence in the assurances of the state governor that the perpetrators would be unmasked and made to face the wrath of the law.

He urged the Anambra State government and security agencies to make sure that those behind the attack were rounded up and brought to book.

Senate minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe has also condemned the gruesome attack on Senator Ifeanyi Uba by gunmen, describing it as despicable and evil.

The senator representing Abia South in a statement in Abuja yesterday by his media adviser, Uchenna Awom said the sad incident which is one among many others across the country are clear indication of total collapse of security.

Abaribe also said he would not want to read political motives behind the attack, but cautioned against such if that is the case saying no political aspiration is worth any human life.

He, therefore, called for a thorough investigation on this and other related ones to unravel the culprits and perhaps the motives for the rising attacks coming on the eve of the 2023 general elections.

“It has become most expedient now for the authorities to deploy the best of our security and intelligence network across board to nip such incidences in the bud. We must engender confidence and reassure Nigerians of their safety at all times”, Abaribe said.

He condoled with Senator Uba, the police authorities and families of those who lost their lives in the fatal attack.

Also, Andy Uba and Uche Ekwunife have joined several other prominent citizens of Anambra State in condemning the attack on the convoy of the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah by yet to be identified gunmen which claimed about six aides of the senator, including three policemen and three civilians at Enugwu-ukwu in Njikoka local government area of the state.

Senator Andy Uba in his message said, “The news came to me as a shock and I sincerely condemn the horrific attack. These attacks are uncalled for and its alien to Igbo culture to maim and kill humans.

“I commiserate with my brother and friend, Distinguished Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah and the families of his aides that lost their lives yesterday (Sunday) in Enugwu-ukwu, Njikoka Local government Area of Anambra State.

“I urge the government to do the needful in bringing total peaceful sanity to our dear Anambra State. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the families of the victims.”

Senator Ekwunife on her own part expressed shock, while condemning the incident. She described it as unimaginable.

“My sincere condolences go to the families who lost their loved ones in the senseless carnage. Government must leave no stone unturned in arresting the security situation in our state and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to justice,” she said.
