The Chairman of the Benue State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Hembadoon Orsar has presented letters of recognition by the national secretariat of SWAN at 60th Anniversary celebration, to Kris Atsaka, Terkula Atom and Akpera Nase at the Correspondent’s Chapel office in Makurdi.
Performing the ceremony in Makurdi, the State capital Orsar said their choice was due to their contribution to sports journalism in the State and country.
According to her, “your recognition is not man made but divine and I believe this will spur you to do more in the sporting world both in the State and beyond
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Atom thanked the National executives for finding them worthy for the national honour, with a promise to always bring on ideas that will bring development to SWAN.
“I want to say that this recognition is first of its kind in for Benue SWAN, and is coming during your time, we are so grateful and we will not in anyway betrayed the confidence reposes in us we will always be there to support your administration to succeed”
On behalf of the Three of us I want to commend the chairman Orsar for his inclusive leadership style which has find us worthy of the nomination.
He said, “since Benue State was created in 1976, this is the first time that such a thing is happening, when SWAN members in the state will be recognised at the national level particularly at a time when the association will be celebrating its Diamond Jubilee”
He thanked Orsar and prayed to God to give her the wisdom to take SWAN in the state to the next level of growth and development.
