Taraba State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has directed the removal of its members who have accepted political appointment from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-led state government of Governor Agbu Kefas, from the party register.

Chairman of APC in the state, Barr. Ibrahim El-Sudi in a statement warned that any of its members who accepts such appointment without approval of the APC National Working Committee will not be spared.

“Our attention has been drawn to a spate of appointments given to numerous members of our party by the Governor of Taraba State, H.E Agbu Kefas, without recourse to our party either at the state or national level.

“Our investigation and interaction with the National Working Committee and National Secretariat reveals that no approval was given by the National Working Committee of our great party to appoint any member of our great party to accept any appointment with Taraba State Governor or Government.

“By the provision of Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution as Amended 2022 which provides, membership of the party shall be terminated by death, resignation, expulsion and procurement of membership of another political party,” the state APC said.

It added that, “A person shall cease to be a member of the party if he accepts political appointment from another political party in government without the approval of the National Working Committee.

“Upon cessation of membership, a person shall return to the party all its properties in his or her possession. Whoever accepts any appointment from Taraba State Government ceases to be a member of our party.”

The statement therefore urged all APC ward chairmen to strike out or delete the names of those who accepted appointment from the Taraba State Governor or government from the party register.

“All local government APC chairmen are directed to monitor those whose names were listed as appointees to the Taraba State government from our party and verify whether they have accepted the appointment or not with a view to implementing the above,” El-Sudi stated.
