The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored bulk electricity supply to six Northeastern states—Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba—after a prolonged blackout that began on June 10, 2025.
This was achieved following the completion of the connection of the new Bauchi 330/132 kV Transmission Substation to the national grid via the 330 kV and 132 kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Transmission Line.
The lines were temporarily switched off to energise the new substation, one of the largest in the region.
The transmission lines have now been reconnected back to the grid. Consequently, supply to the northeast was restored on June 19, at about 16:45 hours, restoring power supply to the area, general manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said on Sunday.
This upgrade has enhanced power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and improved emergency response in the Northeast.
Mbah said that with the project completed, bulk power transmission has been restored to Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which supply electricity to customers in the six states.
This connection of the new substation to the national grid has enhanced power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and improved emergency response capabilities in the North Eastern region.
