In a moment that captivated the Nigerian music scene, longtime rivals Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade have publicly ended their seven-year feud, culminating in a heartfelt on-stage apology and an emotional embrace.

The rift between the two leading ladies of Afrobeats began in 2017 following a veiled social media exchange.

It started when Yemi Alade posted a cryptic criticism of female artists who digitally enhanced their buttocks to “deceive their fans,” a comment widely perceived as a jab at Tiwa Savage, who had just shared photos showcasing her curves.

Savage swiftly fired back with a warning, telling Alade not to “start a war you can’t finish,” cementing a public fallout that would last for years.

The long-awaited reconciliation took place on Thursday in Lagos at ‘The Price of Being Her’ panel, organised by Entertainment Week Africa. In a viral moment, Yemi Alade directly addressed Tiwa Savage from the stage.

“I honestly want you to know that those moments you get rugged and do what you truly want to do, you are standing up for many females,” Alade stated. “Just continue being you. You are literally walking in strength.”

The reconciliation was sealed after the event, where the two were captured in a joyful video singing together and sharing a warm, celebratory hug, signalling a definitive end to their years of discord.
