Truck Accident Claims 9-yr-old Girl In Ondo

A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl, Fatima Ibrahim, in Akungba-Akoko, located in Akoko South-West local government area of Ondo State.

The incident occurred on Sunday at Supare Junction along Supare Road, throwing the community into mourning. According to local sources, the young girl was hit by a truck and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Ondo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the vehicle involved was an unregistered Mercedes-Benz tipper truck.

He added that the driver of the truck has been taken into custody, while the vehicle has been recovered for further examination. The police have since launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

DSP Jimoh expressed the command’s condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public that justice would be pursued. He also urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and exercise caution on the roads to prevent similar tragedies.
