Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe has been nominated for the Saudi Women’s Premier League Goal of the Week award after scoring her first goal for Al-Hilal.
The Nigerian international struck in her third consecutive league appearance for the club, heading home the opener as Al-Hilal recorded a commanding 6-0 win over Al-Taraji. Her early goal set the tone for the emphatic victory.
It was Ucheibe’s first goal since joining the Saudi side and continued her strong start in the league, where she has quickly secured a place in the starting line-up. The goal is now among the strikes shortlisted for the weekly award, earning the Super Falcons star further recognition just weeks into her new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
The nomination adds to Ucheibe’s growing profile at Al-Hilal after her summer move from Portuguese champions Benfica. The 25-year-old signed a two-year contract that runs until 2028, ending a six-year stay at Benfica during which she made 91 appearances and won several domestic honours.
Before her time in Portugal, Ucheibe featured for Swedish club Assi IF and Nigerian side Nasarawa Amazons. She has shown versatility by playing both as a midfielder and a centre-back.
At international level, Ucheibe made her Super Falcons debut in 2022 and has since earned 32 caps, scoring three goals. She was also part of the Nigeria squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Her move to Al-Hilal reunited her with fellow Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala, who has been with the Saudi club since leaving American side Bay FC.
