The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has assured that it will ensure the emergence of candidates that can win elections in the state.
The party said it will never repeat the mistakes of the past that made them lose some positions, adding that a coordinated approach will be deployed in selecting candidates that will jostle for elected positions in the state.
APC state party chairman, Barr. Alphonsu Ogar, who made the vow during a media parley with journalists Monday in Calabar, said the party is committed to strengthening its grassroots structures and gathering support to sweep the polls in the 2027 senatorial poll.
Ogar said the party will produce men and women with capacity, honour and proven integrity to vie for positions of House of Representatives and the Senate.
He added that the ruling party will unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Cross River North Senatorial District Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, from the Senate in 2027.
Ogar, who was accompanied by top APC leaders and stakeholders at the press conference, said the party will present a candidate with capacity to match the strength of the PDP lawmaker.
He called on party faithful to remain focused, united notwithstanding whatever internal wranglings that exist in the APC party in the senatorial district.
In his words, Ogar said, “All party members, support groups, are therefore commissioned to go into the field and to continue the evangelical mission that will now take them to the field.
“Nobody speaks to the converted. We need to do more work, with our brothers and sisters in the opposition, to join hands with us,” he said.
