Yahaya Urges Politicians, Voters To Embrace Peace Ahead Of 2027 Polls

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has called on politicians and voters across the country to embrace peaceful coexistence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yahaya, who also chairs the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), made the appeal on Thursday during a reception held at the Government House in Gombe shortly after participating in Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Central Eid Prayer Ground in the state capital.

The Eid prayer was led by the Deputy Chief Imam of Bubayero Central Mosque, Gombe, Ustaz Aliyu Hammari.

The governor urged political actors across party lines to conduct their activities within democratic principles and avoid actions capable of threatening national peace and stability.

He warned against pursuing political ambitions at the expense of national unity and social harmony.

“No meaningful political ambition or struggle for power can succeed in an atmosphere of rancour, division and intolerance,” Yahaya said.

He stressed that democracy can only thrive in an environment built on mutual respect, understanding and adherence to the rule of law.

The governor also thanked Almighty Allah for granting Nigerians the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged citizens to continue praying for peace, unity and economic prosperity in the country.

The reception at Government House was attended by several dignitaries, including Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Mohammed Luggerowo; APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna; senior government officials; and President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Alhassan Yahya.
