The spokesman of the opposition lawmakers’ coalition, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has commended the new acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yayari Mohammed, for his decision to hit the ground running.
In a statement in Abuja, Ikenga said the decision of the new acting chairman demonstrates his understanding of the urgency to reposition the party for greater electoral success ahead of the 2027 elections.
“It shows that the National Chairman understands the urgent desire of members of what was once the biggest political party in Africa to sanitize the system, restore internal democracy, and bring peace and cohesion back to the party,” Ugochinyere said.
Hon. Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North and South in the House of Representatives, stated that the Acting Chairman’s swift actions have rekindled hope among the PDP family.
Reacting to the chairman’s acceptance speech, Ugochinyere said his group in the House would support the new acting leadership in its resolve to ensure rapid reform of the party.
