Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the constitution of a 10-member committee on the new national minimum wage recently approved by the federal government.
This is contained in a statement by the head of state civil service HOS, Hamidu Alhaji, made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend in Damaturu.
According to the statement, the secretary to the state government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, is the chairman, while the head of the state civil service is the co- chairman.
The statement named the permanent secretary, Establishment, Shuaibu Ibrahim and the permanent secretary of Public Service, Office of the Head of Service, Dr Bukar Kilo as the committee’s secretary and co-secretary.
Other members of the committee include the commissioners of Finance, Alhaji Mohammed Geidam; Budget and Economic Planning, Alh Garba Gagiyo; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu and the state’s accountant general and the chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe State chapter, Comrade Mukhtar Musa and that of TUC, Bulama Musa.
The statement said that the committee will, among other things, work out modalities on the successful implementation of the new national minimum wage in the state.
“The committee will also determine the financial implication of the implementation of the new minimum wage at the state and local governments in addition to making recommendations for government consideration.”
