Residents of communities on the Jauri–Dogon Kade–Nasarawa Mai Layi–Nasarawa Godel corridor have commended Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal, for awarding the 53-kilometre road project.
The residents spoke during a courtesy visit to the commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau Bungudu, in Gusau, yesterday.
The road traverses four local government areas: Gusau, Bungudu, Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji, and has been a long-standing demand of the benefitting communities.
On behalf of the delegation, the community leaders said the project would enhance transportation, ease movement of farm produce, improve access to healthcare facilities, boost security and stimulate economic activities across the four LGAs.
They said the road will also improve connectivity among rural communities and accelerate socio-economic development in the area.
They expressed appreciation to Governor Lawal for responding to their plight and pledged their support and cooperation to ensure timely and successful completion of the project.
Responding, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Bungudu, who received the delegation on behalf of the governor, assured that the state government would ensure quality and timely delivery of the project in line with Governor Lawal’s urban and rural renewal agenda.
