Stakeholders and youths in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State have declared their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the state, Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, ahead of the 2027 election.

The stakeholders made their position known on Thursday at the local government headquarters, saying they wanted a change in the direction of governance in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Abdulaziz Ibrahim said residents of Shinkafi were prepared to mobilise their communities in support of Bilyaminu and the ADC across the state.

“We are fully rooting for the man who knows the work better,” Ibrahim said.

He urged voters in Zamfara to examine the records, programmes and capacity of the various governorship candidates before deciding who to support in the election.

Ibrahim also criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state over what he described as its failure to adequately address the hardship and insecurity confronting residents.

He said public resources, including federal allocations to the state, should translate into improved living conditions for the people.

“We should do away with the APC and its governorship candidate,” he said.

According to him, the next administration should prioritise the security of lives and property, while creating an environment conducive to investment, job creation and economic growth.

The stakeholders also called on political parties and governorship candidates to focus their campaigns on issues affecting residents rather than personalities.

They specifically demanded debates on insecurity, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment, infrastructure and economic development.

“Zamfara cannot prosper when its people are not safe,” Ibrahim said.

The group pledged to mobilise youths, community leaders and other residents across Shinkafi Local Government for the ADC candidate, saying the campaign would focus on taking the party’s message and proposed programmes to the grassroots.

They urged ADC supporters across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
