Zulum Opens Vocational Institute In Mafa

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum at the weekend inaugurated a vocational training institute in Mafa local government area with the capacity for training 600 youths every year.

The institute named ‘Vocational Enterprise Institute Mafa’ is designed to train between 450 and 600 participants in 15 trades annually.

It will offer specialised training programmes including auto mechanics, welding, fabrication, solar installation, electrical installation, plumbing and pipe-fitting, tailoring and embroidery, leatherwork, building construction, agric tech, aluminum fabrication, AC/refrigeration, knitting and crocheting, carpentry and joinery, cosmetology and ICT.

Governor Zulum explained that in addition to the vocational training, students would acquire basic literacy skills.

He said by engaging the youths in vocational skills, the state government aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, attracting investments and creating a sustainable and prosperous future for the state.
