Boy Electrocuted In Lagos Building Site

A 17-year-old boy was electrocuted while working with his stepfather at a building construction site in Lagos State.

Lagos State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday, said the boy and his stepfather were contracted to work at the site.

Hundeyin remarked that the mother of the boy whose name was not given, reported the case to the Agbado Police Division on August 2, at 1 pm.

The Lagos Police spokesman said the woman reported that at about 12:30 pm on the said day, she received a phone call from her younger brother about the incident.

According to the bereaved mother, her brother reported that her son followed her husband who is a welder to build a scaffolding in the building under construction at the Church Street, Alagbado.

Hundeyin said, “In the process of work, the boy stepped on a life wire that was carelessly connected to an electric pole and he died on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The scene was visited by a team of detectives from the division. The corpse has been removed from the scene.”

He added that, “No mark of violence was seen. The stepfather has been brought to the station for questioning as investigation is in progress.”
