Police Public Relation Officer (PRO), Ahmed Wakil who confirmed the death through a release on Thursday, narrated that the police received a distress call from Gwallameji, that a group of hunters led by Commander Saidu Musa, a 49-year-old, armed with machetes and guns, were at the area to apprehend an unidentified person following a complaint by one Ibrahim Lado, a resident of Hajiya Amina Lodge.

Wakil said Gwallameji and residents of the area mistook them for armed robbers and responded forcefully, overpowering and injuring them.

“Therefore, one of the hunters, Nasiru Adam, ‘M’, a 27-year-old resident of Tani-Yola, sustained severe injuries. Despite being rushed to ATBUTH for medical attention, Adam was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

“Also, three of their motorcycles were burnt,” Wakil said.

The Command also narrated that on Tuesday, June 2, during a reprisal attack by a rival group of hoodlums known as ‘Yan Tokara’ in the metropolis one Rabiu Shehu was killed.

“The attack led to the death of Rabiu Shehu, also known as Rambo, a 21-year-old resident of Muda Lawal, Bauchi.

“He was attacked and stabbed in the stomach and neck by an unknown person suspected to be a member of the rival group in the Bakin Kura area. Despite being taken to the Specialists Hospital, Bauchi for medical examination, he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor,” the PPRO stated.

Wakil added that the Command has directed Tactical Commanders, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to thoroughly search the state to apprehend the killers, stating that a discreet investigation has been ordered to uncover the circumstances leading to the deaths of the two individuals.

“There is a heavy deployment of officers throughout the night, and every corner of the state will be thoroughly searched to ensure the arrest of those responsible,” he said.
