The Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday said that three members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Izzi local government area of the State have been killed, five others were arrested while others escaped when security agents dislodged their hideout.
A statement by the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Joshua Ukandu said that one AK 47 rifle, 2000 rounds of live ammunition, three vehicles and other items were recovered from the hoodlums.
He stated that acting on credible intelligence, in a joint operation with other sister security agencies on March 21, 2024, the hideout of the organisation in a forest within Omini community in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State was stormed.

DSP Ukandu said that on sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on them adding that exhibits recovered at the den indicates that the gang was responsible for the recent attacks and killing of police officers within the state.
