No fewer than four persons have lost their lives following a stampede at Kofar Guga Quarters in Katsina State.

The tragic incident occurred on February 26, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m., when a large crowd gathered at the residence of a philanthropist, Alhaji Dahiru Usman Sarki, for the distribution of annual Ramadan alms.

According to a statement issued by the spokeman of the Katsina State Police Command, Sadiq Abubakar Aliyu, the Command received a distress call at the Central Police Station reporting that the gathering had turned chaotic, resulting in a stampede.

He added that police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene to restore order and assist in rescue efforts.

The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but four of them later died from injuries sustained during the incident.
