Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State yesterday urged President Bola Tinubu to speed up signing of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Trust Fund bill into law to empower corps members start new businesses after their service.

Fintiri while inspecting a guard of honor by  1,477 2023 NYSC Batch B stream 1 corps members deployed to the state, assured them of adequate safety during their service year.

He said the trust fund when signed into law would enhance national development as corps members would have financial support to leverage on for their benefits.

He advised them to adhere to the personal security tips from security experts during lectures and refer to the desperate call lines in emergency situations.

He appreciated the NYSC scheme for bestowing the most NYSC-friendly Governor award on him in 2023 and Adamawa as the most NYSC-friendly state.

“Be rest assured that Adamawa State is a home away from home, more so as corps members you are automatically bonafide indigenes of Adamawa State.

“This is the privileged status conferred on you by me, the governor of the state,” he said.

Earlier, the state NYSC coordinator, Mr Jingi Denis, lauded the corps members for their discipline at the camp.

Denis appreciated the governor for his intervention towards improving the welfare of corps members.

The state NYSC Governing Board chairman, Alhaji Mukhtar Aminu Tukur, advised the corps members to embrace the NYSC skills acquisition programme to make them job creators rather than job seekers.
