The Rotary Club of Abuja Jabi Lake in collaboration with Preggies Arena Charity (PAC) Project has offered free health care services to over 100 pregnant women in Kuchigoro and Karanmajiji communities of the FCT.

The healthcare services which marked the month of maternal and child health under the Rotary International calendar, included medical checks and antenatal services, distribution of birthing kits, prenatal vitamin and supplements to the women.

President of the Rotary Club of Abuja Jabi Lake,  Rotarian Olayinka Aduloju, said they decided to reach out to the 100 women in the areas which are the club’s adopted communities to ease their financial burdens.

“This project is one of the areas and focus of Rotary’s services because Rotary has seven areas of focus and this month is maternal and health child care.

“Kuchigoro is our adopted community, Karanmajiji is a nearby community to Kuchigoro, we wanted to get 100 pregnant women in Kuchigoro community, but the community is small, that was why we included Karanmajiji community to make up the 100,” Aduloju said.

She urged well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the club to impact and deliver on more projects in the community.

The convener of Preggies Arena Charity, Olufisoye Modukpe said the organisation is a platform where they support women through educational enlightenment campaigns and render support to the pregnant women in difference ways.

“We started in 2020, during the pandemic and since them we are growing bigger and bigger. We have over a thousand pregnant women we carter for.

“This project today is impacting because we clock three years and we want to reach out to as many women as we can. It has been a passion for us as health care providers because we use to sponsor ourselves but we are happy to do it,” she said.

A beneficiary, Mrs Ogolo Augustina, expressed gratitude to the organisers,  saying pregnancy needs attention and care which Rotary club had demonstrated.
