Galaxy Backbone will leverage on the International Standard Organisation (ISO) license to effectively deliver internationally accepted information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure services.

The chief sales marketing officer of Galaxy Backbone, Aliyu Musa stated this in an interview with LEADERSHIP in Bauchi.

The International Standard Organisation (ISO) had issued a license to Galaxy Backbone, Nigeria’s government information technology and shared service provider to deliver ICT tools and other related services to not just its immediate local market but also the international community.

Musa said Galaxy Backbone will not waver in its commitment to delivering quality ICT services to ‘all our clients’ and described the license as recognition of the agency’s laudable efforts.

Over the years, Galaxy Backbone carved a niche for itself through active upgrades, efficient management and provision of internationally accepted ICT infrastructures to not just government but also private entities.

Galaxy Backbone delivered Technology operations across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies and built a common services platform consisting of in-country and offshore VSAT hubs, a data centre, a Federal Capital metro fibre backbone and multiple redundant internet gateways.

However, Galaxy Backbone’s converged infrastructure aimed at cost reduction and enhancing efficiency and managing Cloud infrastructure by Galaxy as part of efforts to strengthen and deliver ICT services to Nigeria.

For instance, Galaxy covered a distance of 5,000 kilometres with fibre coverage nationwide but more specifically in Bauchi, Gombe Yola, Jigawa, Kano and Plateau States. The Fiber network is unique for its speed and efficiency.

The few uncovered communities were not left out in the ICT drive mix of Galaxy Backbone. Nigeria’s underserved and unserved territories were provided with a subscribable eLTE router solution. The eLTE service subscription rate is flexible. It allows intending subscribers to pay for the eLTE service for a period of three or six months and one year.

Similarly, Galaxy Backbone invented an IP Phone to facilitate linked communication among corporate entities, government establishments and offices. The IP Phone can be used to hold conference calls and virtual engagements with flexibility.

Having seen how COVID-19 disrupted learning in schools for months in Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone invented a technology-based solution with the invention of Idea Hub.

The Idea Hub works as a digital whiteboard that can be used by schools and universities to virtually teach students and pupils, thereby overcoming barriers of space which may be encroached upon by disruptive unforeseen events.

Galaxy had since commenced the march into the future as we have built a world-class Uptime Institute Certified Tier III and Tier IV data centres in Abuja and Kano respectively with a disaster recovery site located in Enugu

“We are hosting not only government information in our data centres but also private as banks and individuals are coming into the system.

“We have provided ICT infrastructure of global standards that Nigerians do not need to engage foreign hosting rights companies,” Musa added.

The scale of cyber-attacks on businesses has been a growing concern globally, prompting governments, corporations, and individuals to prioritize cyber security measures. As organizations increasingly adopt remote work arrangements, cloud technologies, and IoT devices, the attack surface has expanded, making cyber security vigilance more critical than ever before.

There is no contesting the fact that Galaxy Backbone is deploying all the resources at its disposal to secure businesses from cyber threats in their ongoing battle against cybercriminals.

“We provide impeachable cyber security and data backup centres. What it means is that you don’t have to store your data and information in another cloud and basically that is the cloud is computing. So you don’t have to subscribe to any international cloud computing company to store information. Galaxy provides this to Nigerians through its Galaxy Cloud Platform.

“As we look into the future, we are championing the digitization of government processes and institutions and working through our focused team of service professionals and visionary leaders to create a smarter government which would in turn create smart communities, cities and a more vibrant technology enabled nation

“We are changing the way we conduct our operations and becoming more service-oriented and customer-focused. We believe we are better positioned to help the public agencies and institutions we serve attain their technology objectives,” noted.
