Troops Rescue 29 Kidnap Victims From Terrorists In Borno, Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has said its troops successfully rescued 29 hostages from the captivity of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in Borno State and other terrorists in Kaduna State.

The director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, said the troops of 144 Battalion on Saturday rescued the 25 hostages around Gwoza local government area of the State.

He said the troops in conjunction with Hybrid Force, during a clearance operation at Gobara village of Gwoza LGA rescued 14 hostages comprising six women and eight children.

In a similar operation on Sunday, August 27, 2023, troops of 82 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with Hybrid Force, raided BHT enclave in Gava Village in Gwoza local government area of the State and rescued 11 civilians.

He said all rescued victims were in troops’ custody undergoing profiling.

Again, on August 27, 2023, seven members of a BHT family surrendered to troops of 81 Division Task Force Battalion in Dikwa local government area of the State.

The family comprised three adults and four children.

Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, troops of 2 Battalion, Nigerian Army, acting on actionable information neutralised one terrorist and freed four kidnap victims in Kwana Shehu Village in Birnin Gwari local government area of the State on August 27, 2023.

According to the Army spokesman, the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families.

He, therefore, enjoined members of the public to support the troops with credible information to enhance ongoing operations across the country.
