A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, has advised the member representing Rivers State in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Tony Okocha, to stop creating division within the party.

He advised Okocha, who is a prominent leader of the party in the state, to focus on contributing to the renewed hope efforts of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration rather than causing distraction for the government.

Dimkpa, who was an NDDC board member representing the state, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by his media aide, Dae Stephen Degbara, was reacting to comments credited to the NDDC board member during a visit to the APC national chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, in Abuja.

Okocha had during the visit accused Dimkpa of being part of a meeting where a directive was allegedly issued by former minister of transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, that Rivers APC members should vote for the candidate of the PDP in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar.

But, in the statement, Dimkpa said the claims of the NDDC board member represented a selfish plan to derail the laudable objectives of the APC national leadership with regard to the state chapter of the party.

The statement said; “In Okocha’s infantile desire to perpetuate his falsehood and desperately gain cheap political milage, he should not forget that as a foundation member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in Rivers State, Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa has more to gain from an Asiwaju presidency than Mr Okocha can ever fathom, hence his decision to work tirelessly for the president’s electoral victory in Rivers State.

“We note that as a committed member of the APC, Engr Chukwudi Dimkpa has devoted his time, energy and resources along with other stakeholders to ensure that the party emerged victorious in the just concluded polls.”
