Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed has said that his administration would continue to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the welfare of women and children in an effort to eradicate the sexual and gender-based violence.

The governor disclosed that the state government has concluded plans establish a mobile court to facilitate timely prosecution of the offenders of gender related issues.

Mohammed made the pledge while he received the committee on the Sexual and Gender-based Violence (GBV) under the leadership of the state’s first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, at Bauchi Government House on Friday.

He commended the members of the committee for their active participation in educating the public on the effects of the abuses. He said the state government is concerned about the rampant cases of GBV across the state and described the visit as a wake-up call to his administration.

Mohammed vowed to intensify the effort by taking the responsibility as the leader with a call on stakeholders across the state to rally behind the advocacy to ensure the success of the campaign.

Governor Bala called on the action group to look inward by involving parents, civil organisations, religious and local leaders in the campaign, emphasizing the importance of being circumspect and providing security agencies with needful information.
