The Bonny/Nembe/Bille jetty, which serves the people of Bonny and Bille in Rivers State as well as Nembe in Bayelsa State was reconstructed and commissioned by the administration of former Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in 2022.

Sources told LEADERSHIP that the fire started around 4:00pm from one of the passenger boats due to an electrical fault.

The sources added the fire spread to the two other nearby boats that had illegally refined petroleum products on board.
