A non-governmental organisation with a focus on patriotism, equity, and building public trust, Ahiazor Patriotic Forum (APF) has decried allegations of misappropriation and corruption levelled against some political leaders across the local government area in Imo State.
This development is coming on the heels of multiple allegations of corruption involving cases of diversion of palliatives donated to constituents and supporters.
Speaking at an emergency meeting to review several petitions circulating in the media, the Executive Secretary of APF, Mr. Emmanuel Diala, called on Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, to constitute a probe panel to confirm the veracity or otherwise of the allegations and ensure that the party leaders indicted were punished appropriately.
In a related development, the leadership of the APF announced that it has finalised the move to recall Hon. Samuel Otibe, the Member representing Ahiazu State Constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly over alleged corruption and abuse of power.
APF urged its members across all the wards in the LGA to come out and endorse the effort as a collection of signatures will resume on February 3.
“APF members are enjoined to attend a crucial mobilisation meeting for the recall process in a venue in Amuzi that will be announced shortly,” Diala said.
He stated that the recall of Mr. Otibe will go a long way in serving as a lesson to all erring leaders to know that corruption will no longer be tolerated by the people in Ahiazu.
According to APF, the alleged diversion of palliatives and other dividends of democracy meant for ordinary people contributed to the poor performance of APC in some wards during the past governorship elections, and such actions, if not checked, will continue to sabotage the well-meaning efforts of Senator Hope Uzodimma-led administration at the grassroots level.
