Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is still doubtful for action when Nigeria takes on South Africa in June.
This is according to the Italian Serie A side Napoli that shared a fresh injury update on the striker ahead of their penultimate game of the season, against Fiorentina at the Franchi Stadium this evening.

The Napoli players trained on Thursday morning at the SSCN Konami Training Center.

The Parthenopeans have not brought good news for Nigeria boss Finidi George and Super Eagles fans after stating through their official website that Victor Osimhen carried out personalized training on the pitch.

It is looking likely that the reigning African Footballer of the Year will miss the matchday 37 clash against Fiorentina, a key game that will determine whether Napoli will participate in European competition in 2024-2025.

Osimhen is struggling to overcome a muscle injury ahead of Finidi’s squad announcement for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Benin’s Cheetahs.

The Ajax Amsterdam legend, who was appointed the substantive coach of the Super Eagles around two weeks ago, has walked into an injury crisis, with Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Tyronne Ebuehi, Zaidu Sanusi and Leon Balogun all but ruled out of the double header.

There is no encouraging update regarding the fitness of Bruno Onyemaechi as the Boavista fullback did not take part in full training on Wednesday.

In what could be his final season as a Napoli player, Osimhen has mustered 17 goals in 31 matches.
