LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that late Felix who lost his parents in 2013 left behind his twin brother who is in JSS2 in the same boarding school.

Felix’s body was deposited in the mortuary until investigation is concluded.

The Nigerian Air Force did not disclose the name of the victim and the cause of his death but said a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel what led to his death.
When contacted, the management of the school forwarded a brief statement issued by the NAF spokesman, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet yesterday.

It said; “The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar and indeed the entire NAF family are saddened by the painful and unfortunate incident of the untimely death of one of our students at Air Force Secondary School, Kaduna on 19 Jun 24”

“To avoid all sorts of speculations, a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel how, why and what actually led to the death of the victim. Rest assured that this matter is receiving the utmost urgency it deserves, and we won’t rest until it is unraveled.”

An official at the Air Force Base who pleaded anonymity explained that the incident happened on June 19, 2024.

He said two SS3 students invited the victim to their room to punish him but ended up killing him.

“What I gathered was that two SS3 students who just finished their WAEC and were waiting for NECO examination invited Felix Aliyu who is an assistant head boy to one of their rooms to punish him. According to findings, these two students tortured him with electric iron till he died in their hands. First, we heard that the victim was ironing clothes and he was electrocuted but we later gathered that it was not so. It was a case of murder. I learnt the two SS3 students suspected to be behind the act were arrested,” he said.

When contacted, a relative of the victim who did not want her name in the media confirmed the incident but said she was not in a position to talk to the press.

The chairman of the school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) who posted on the PTA WhatsApp platform said Felix died as a result of being punished by an SS3 student who did an illegal connection of electricity in the room and the deceased student had contact with the iron bed during the course of punishment and was electrocuted and eventually died.

According to a social media user, a staff member of the school, Steve Kefas on his Facebook page also claimed that Felix was tortured to death through electrocution by SS3 students.
Efforts to speak with the Kaduna state police command on the incident were not successful before press time yesterday.
